The public consultation ran for 6 weeks to 12th November 2025 and is now closed.

The LNRS is being edited to take on board comments. A process will be set up to allow further comments to be shared over the next few years. Changes can be made to non statutory elements of the LNRS but any changes to the statutory sections cannot be made until the first review (year of review will be confirmed by Defra). Clarity on these sections and the process will be given before the LNRS is published.

Introduction to the Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Public consultation webinars took place at the start of the consultation period, giving an introduction to the draft Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy. Farming and the Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy:

Find out how farmers and land managers can use the Devon LNRS to understand the species and habitats in their area and the actions that could support their conservation and recovery by watching the recording of this webinar. It includes a run through of the LNRS website and interactive map, followed by a Q&A session.

Freshwater species and habitats in the Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy:

This webinar has already taken place, and featured talks from South West Water (using the LNRS), the Environment Agency (planning), Devon County Council (estuaries) and Westcountry Rivers Trust (river restoration).
